Long Ice Breaker Game to Get People Networking

Large Group Ice Breaker Games

This is a topic I’m quite passionate about.

A networking icebreaker activity that is low-lift and gets people energized, up and moving around, and breaking through the awkwardness that groups often have during their first meeting.

This is especially important when you have a mix of new people and returning people in the group, so I'm hoping this will get them to mix together well.

The icebreaker idea I’ll share will get people:

  • Interacting.
  • Connecting with each other.
  • Fun and Low lift (easy to setup & play).

What makes a Good & Long Ice Breaker Games

Easy to Setup Networking Icebreaker

When you have a large group, the last thing on your mind is adding another logistical challenge or cost that would blow your budget.

I’ve had the opportunity to be part of many large events (conferences, summits) and have been on both the attendee end and the facilitator end.

The Attendee Experience With a Networking Activity

I’ve also had the pleasure of attending similar events where there were built-in icebreakers and activities. This significantly made a difference. I wasn’t worried about whether I would meet someone; I simply had to participate, and I was almost guaranteed to meet and connect.

One of my favorite networking activities of all time was Jam Bingo. When I say it made networking easier, I really mean it.

1. Four Corners

Four Corners is an easy one. A facilitator calls out a statement like 'AI is the worst/best,' and people move to a corner of the room depending on how much they agree with the statement.

It naturally forces people into small groups and gives them a conversation starter.

2. JamBingo - The Networking Game

Jam Bingo, for those reading about it for the first time, is a networking gamification bingo game where networking and meeting new people feels like playing a fun game.

It helps people at a large event get to know each other!

Why Icebreakers for a Large Group?

Get People Talking

Stop people from just standing around; get them talking, mixing, and actively mingling to build genuine connections.

Get Over the Initial Awkwardness

At events where people are meeting for the first time, participants often default to an "awkward state" if they aren't well-acquainted—a behavior that manifests differently for every individual.

Ultimately, they aren't forming genuine connections or truly meeting new people.

Often having small talk like:

  • [Great/Bad] weather we’re having this week.
  • What do you do?
  • Where do you work?
  • Take my business card.

These behaviors rarely create meaningful connections or conversations; instead, they are symptoms of the natural awkwardness that occurs when meeting new people for the first time.

Fun, Simple, Gamify Networking

A fun, easy way to transform networking from a dreadful task into an enjoyable experience.

Connect people: Get Old Members & New Members Mingling & Talking

Breaking the ice between existing members, new members, and guests is often challenging. However, incorporating a fun, engaging icebreaker alleviates this stress and transforms networking into an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
