Help Seniors Practice Learning QR Codes
Activity to build digital literacy in a fun and gamified environment — so seniors feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

The Real Challenge
QR codes are everywhere — restaurant menus, event check-ins, doctor's offices, and community boards. But for many seniors, scanning a QR code feels confusing, frustrating, or even scary. Low digital literacy creates unnecessary barriers to independence and social participation.
Fear of Making Mistakes
Many seniors worry they'll 'break something' or get scammed. This fear stops them from even attempting to scan QR codes, leaving them dependent on others.
Lack of Hands-On Practice
Most digital literacy workshops move too fast. Seniors need repeated, low-stakes practice in a supportive environment — not a one-time lecture.
Inconsistent Device Knowledge
Some seniors have iPhones, others have Androids. Camera apps differ, settings vary, and no single tutorial works for everyone. This fragmentation creates confusion.
