Have you run a passport program at the tradeshow?

A passport or bingo card is a simple, widely used way to boost engagement on the show floor. It motivates attendees to stop by more exhibitor booths, helping increase foot traffic and generate more leads.

However, paper exhibitor bingo card printouts and having stamps can be a logistical inconvenience.

A QR Code Exhibitor Bingo Card like Jam Bingo is a game changer – and a great tactic to drive more engagement to exhibitor booths, as well as, increase networking and engagement.

What is a Digital Passport Scavenger Hunt?

Drive More Engagement to Exhibitor Booths

A Digital Event Passport is an app or web app (web app means attendees do not need to download an app), that encourages attendees to visit various exhibits or sponsors at an event.

Example of a Jam Bingo Prompt

The benefit of a digital event passport is more networking, being digital makes it more convenient for attendees to play, and for organizers to set up.

Jam Bingo

What is Jam Bingo?

At trade shows and expos, Jam Bingo is the Digital Event Passport.

The QR Code Exhibitor Bingo Card we’ve been talking about is Jam Bingo. Jam Bingo is an easy icebreaking activity that increases attendee-sponsor engagement at events.

As the organizer, you can add your own prompts to your Jam Bingo

Jam Bingo allows event organizers to add your own prompts to make it much more personal and fun. For example:

  • Connect with a team member from ABC.
  • Travelled over 8 hours to get here.
  • Ask someone at Company ABC what product or service they offer that most people do not know about.
  • [You can add your own…..]

It creates conversation-prompts that outshines your average paper bingo card, and allows exhibitors to feel like it allows them to have real conversations with attendees, rather than people rushing to get the stamp and move on.

Advantages of Jam Bingo

Simplicity

The advantage of Jam Bingo is it’s simple to set up and simpler to play.

Attendees often say that the traditional paper bingo passport program sometimes is too confusing or too much work, so they gave up.

Jam Bingo makes it easy to understand what is going on, where to go next, and who to talk with.

If you are tasked to create a show floor engagement strategy today to help drive traffic to booths and bring energy & excitement to attendees, Jam Bingo is a great solution to other alternatives.

From "Stamp and Run" to "Stop and Talk"

The fatal flaw of a paper passport is the stamp. It requires no thought, no effort, and no conversation.

Jam Bingo the digital event passport replacing stamps with conversation. People genuinely have to talk and learn more about each other before they can unlock the next prompt. It incentivizes real conversation over transaction.

A paper passport or a bingo card still has merit. It gives people, especially introverted attendees, an excuse and a guide to connect. However, it can feel transactional: “I come to your booth, you give me a stamp so I can win a prize.”

It should feel conversational instead. The tool should create opportunities for conversation and connection rather than a transactional feel.

Jam Bingo creates space for the conversational feel.

Prompt Ideas That Drive Real Engagement

Instead of a generic stamp, imagine these prompts appearing on an attendee's screen when they approach a booth:

  • Find Company 1 and ask them what the biggest trend in AI is right now.
  • Find a Recruiter and ask what the most surprising perk of working here is.
  • Ask a Booth for a 30-second demo of their new tool.

Contact Exchange with Jam Bingo

What makes Jam Bingo as the event passport app a great alternative to paper bingo cards is, attendees and sponsors can add their contact information to the game.

Viewing ‘People & Events’ page on Jam Bingo.

As they make new connections by interacting, it saves their contact to the web app, which they can later come back to to see all the people they connected with.

As an attendee this is really good because it allows for an easy way of keeping track of all the connections made, and for the exhibitors and sponsors, it allows them to see the connections they made!

After a great conversation at a booth, the attendee would scan the exhibitor’s Jam Bingo QR Code (or enter the exhibitor's Jam Bingo code) to unlock their next prompt.

During that scan, two things happen with that one scan:

  • The attendee shares their contact information (which they choose to share) with the exhibitor.
  • The exhibitors contact information is added to the attendees Jam Bingo.
  • The attendee unlocks the next prompt.

Why Contact Exchange Matters

  • For Attendees: They build their professional network effortlessly.
  • For Exhibitors: They capture qualified leads without a separate CRM tool or lead retrieval hardware.
  • For Organizers: You facilitate genuine value, making your event the place where business relationships are born.

How the QR Code Technology Works

The Magic Behind the Scan: How QR Codes Power Engagement

At the heart of the Digital Exhibitor Passport is a simple but powerful technology: the QR code. But unlike standard QR codes that just open a website, our codes are smart links that trigger specific actions within the game.

The Attendee Experience with Jam Bingo

Scan

Attendees scan, or enter your game code, or click the game link (you can email ahead of time) for attendees to join.

Exhibitors should also join the game as attendees will need to scan their QR Code in order to unlock the next prompt.

Mingle

Attendees will then mingle at exhibitors booths based on the prompts they have. For example a prompt could be “Find someone at company XYZ and ask them who they are looking to connect with.”

Prizes

As attendees play, when they complete all their prompts. It will show which position to which finished.

When attendees complete all their prompts, it will display their position.

However, one common mistake to avoid with Jam Bingo is mentioning prizes too early. Depending on your event, you may want to save all prize announcements until the very end. Otherwise, it can incentivize people to rush through the experience, scanning and dashing, rather than having real conversations. Our goal is to create meaningful connections between attendees and sponsors. (Read more common mistakes to avoid with Jam Bingo).
